    Dale----

Recently, I've seen a set of TRANSPARENT, molded, polycarbonate-type plastic valve covers for small block Chevies advertised in the back of one of the car mags. I didn't pay too much attention and don't exactly recall where I saw it, but this could be a "permanent" solution if one wants others to see the glory of roller rocker arms in action. As long as the oil doesn't get in the way, anyway.

If you change the oil every 500 miles you might actually be able to see those bitchin' roller rockers.

        Why: Accuracy and strength

        Dale,

Spec out some stock rockers sometime and you'll see that they typically do not come in to the full 1.5:1 ratio that they are supposed to. Usually somewhere around 1:46-1.48:1. Also, roller tip rockers are not a joke. I have broken PLENTY of stock rockers, but NEVER broken a Comp Cams Magnum Roller tip. And this was on a race/street GT-350 that saw way more RPMs than my Corvette.

Check the cost difference between a set of roller tips and a new set of stock rockers, it would be something less than $50 bucks, I bet. Only reason I don't know for sure is that I would NEVER EVER use a set of stamped steel rockers again...

          Re: Rocker Arms

the best thing about roller rockers is their ability to reduce oil temp with after market stiffer valve springs. i have seen about 20/30 degrees less oil temp on race engines. some short track classes require you to use stock stamped rockers and i found a way around this by using oldsmobile stamped rockers with ball bearing pivots from alum roller rockers.

to make my post clearer , i used the trunions from alum roller rockers with ball bearings on them.
