    THM 350 Question...

    Hi All,
After bringing the '77 Corvette that I just acquired back to life from it's 4-year coma and putting about 150 miles on it, the transmission has gone kaput! I plan to rebuild it over the winter months. While scanning throught the local paper, I found an add for a THM 350 in good condition for $75! Instantly, I started thinking, "Super! I can still cruise while I'm rebuilding the other!" I spoke with the owner over the phone, and he said that it was a "long shaft." Are there different configurations, and how can I tell if this one will match up to my "Vette?
Thanks a bunch for your help... this is my first 'Vette, and I am hooked!

You need the short saft, a kit runs around $150.00 and is so simple to rebuild , to bad your not near me ,it would take about an hour to rebuild after the trans was out. What they charge is Hwy Robbery

Thanks... Who makes the best kits?

      I appreciate the help!

Does anyone out there have a suggestion on which manufacture's kit would be best to go with and where to order one through?

      Thanks again in advance!
      Jeff

          Jeff------

GM/Delco used to offer a transmission rebuild kit for your THM-350, but they no longer do. You can obtain gasket kits from GM/Delco and some individual parts are still available through the GM parts system. Also, some, BUT NOT ALL, individual parts which are not supplied as part of any kit are also available from GM in the unlikley event you need them.

For a kit, you have to go aftermarket. I believe that most of the kits available on the market today are either branded or sourced from a company called ATP. Most auto parts stores or transmission shops should be able to supply the kit you require.
