    C1 gas sender

Even tho I wrote about 53-55 cleaning is the same for all C1's, I read about others having a problem this may help.

I have time on my hands ,thought I would put up some articles I and others did years ago???? I delete the pic. After a few days when I see that no one responds if your interested in any copy it.

Many Thanks Roy - Perfect Timing

My gas gauge hasn't worked right since I purchased my 54 in November. The tank registered full even when almost empty. I had the gas tank cover off today (putting on correct spiral shocks), when I saw your article. What great timing.

After reading your article, I cleaned the ground wire connection and the sender unit. Pretty grimey after 52 years. Everything sparkles now, and the gas gauge works perfectly. I can move the float up and down and watch the gauge go up and down in unison. That brought a big smile to my face. Great way to start the 3 day weekend.

I owe you two beers for the timely advice. I look forward to meeting you sometime (I live in the SF Bay Area) and paying off my self-declared debt.

I never needed a pat on the back but it's nice to know some one reads my postings, but the beers I'll take you up on!

        Roy-

If you still have the picture of how to clean the gas sender, can you please repost it or email it to me. I tricked myself into thinking I had fixed my sender. I need to open it up and clean it I guess.

        Thanks for yoru help,

        Russ

          Russ -

If your sender has a brass float, look hard for cracks while you have it out.

boil the brass float in water and the gasoline

will boil out and you will also be able to see where the crack was so you can solder it closed. do NOT use your better half cook wear for this project as the gasoline smell will not come out. don't ask how i know this.

              Say Clem,
How about just putting a heat gun to it on the work bench? At least that way you'll still get a good dinner that night...

You should write a book entitled: "When working on cars, don't use your better half's _______ (fill in the blank).

I see a new "War and Peace" size book coming.
