If you replied to a similar message last week, thanks for your participation. If not and you own (or have access to) a February or later 66, I would appreciate your help.
It appears that in about March or April 1966 (much earlier than I thought), the method used for securing the front brake crossover line to the frame crossmember switched from using a single wire clip mounted in 1 hole in the center of the frame crossmember to using 2 flat clamps. With the 2 flat clamp method, there are actually 3 holes in the frame crossmember. The brake line clips are bolted in a hole above each of the lower control arm nut plates. The center hole is there but unused.
My June 15 car uses the 2 flat clamp method and has all 3 holes ( ) as does each car in the survey after May 9. A February 24 and an April 7 car both use one spring clip in a single hole ( ).
A favor please: If you have a February or later 66 and are (reasonably) sure your front brake line is mounted the way it was originally, I'd appreciate hearing from you!
The information that would be useful:
VIN Number (e.g. 194676S124431)
Build Date (e.g. June 15, 1966)
Style of Hold Down Clamp (2 Flat Clamps or 1 Spring Style)
Number of Mounting Holes in Crossmember (1, 2, or 3)
Thanks in advance. I'll post the results after I tally the responses,
