From previous post by Brad---
"How many different top ignition shielding pieces were made for the 270hp, carbureted '58-'60 vette? I thought I had the correct one until a couple weeks ago when two judges tell me that I had the wrong one! (Not a big problem 'cause I still top-flghted!)
They told me that the front of my unit had an incorrect cut-out (just behind the rear carburetor). The judging manual does not have a view of the front of the unit (only the top).
The JM also says....."The upper distributor shield varieties seen for 1958 though all but the latest 1960 models have a short front skirt with two lower cutouts. It is possible that the late-1960 top shields were the 1961 with a long front skirt. Also, the earliest 1958 FI version nay have used a 1957 (short skirt) top shield which lacks the two front cutouts"
Roy posted a drawing of my shield. I would also like to know if this could be another clue to the original HP of my 60. It had 6500 Red line tach, generator driven tach and ribbed valve covers. Was the shielding different? Very early 60.
Thanks Roy.
