C2 Brake Pad Questions...

I have a complete car set of GM# 18028641 pads. I have two questions before I install them on the '67. 1.) The pads came with adhesive backed plastic spacers or insulators. Since the pads on the car now don't squeel, should I use these plastic insulators on the new pads? 2.) The pads are labeled as "100% asbestos free", does this mean I will now have to deal with brake dust on my rallyes? I certainly hope not as I have never had so much as a speck of brake dust in 25 years of ownership.

1. yes or you may have noise

If you have manual brakes, you'll be happier with ordinary organic pads (Raybestos, Wagner, Bendix, etc.), and they don't generate anywhere near the amount of "pad dust".

The 18028641 AC-Delco pads are semi-metallic, and are manufactured by CarQuest (a/k/a Brake Parts, Inc.). I think those are the only pads GM (Delco) sells these days for '65-'82 Corvettes. Your local FLAPS should have ordinary organic pads in stock, or they can order them.
