C2 - 63 - What is verdit for Boston ZERK or cap?

Did NCRS ever reach conclusion yet on the ZERK fitting or the plastic cap on the Clutch Support Bar... I hate to bring this up again, but it seems it was left an open item. I emailed Carlton Colclough and he told me to go by the book, however he was going to look at the AIM and will let me know this weekend...so here we go again Zerk or cap?

At the 2000 National, Carlton told me to use the zerk, but I had the cap and a wrench in my pocket in case I got a judge who wanted it. It was not a problem, the judge liked the zerk.

Collin, At CC (not Carlton) I believe it was John Hinckley who came by the trailer with big bag of orange plugs for zerk. He flipped me one (plug) with a big smile and introduced himself. Nice fellow. Also showed me other parts we discussed. Plug or zerk not a big deal my friend. Bring both. Ask judges what they want before hand and when no one looking do your thing. Leave jerk or zerk loose. You are not permitted to install or remove parts on judging field so..... Wish that's all I had to worry about on my car. See you at show. Leave jumper cables home this time Collin. (cheep chot) Good Luck, John D.

        John,

I promise you my friend, NO JUMP STARTS this time. My first judging experience was truely a learn by doing experience. I really hope you like what you see this time, John and I have worked very hard to straighten out the items pointed out, and I think we will do good... BTW This weekend at Carlisle Gary Mortimer selected by car as a Celeberty Pick...I felt very very honored that the founder of NCRS liked what he saw...cool ...

Taking all your advice John and other NCRS folks...getting excited over this, as my daughter will finally be able to see this car I have been working on for so long, she has never seen it...(she lives in CT and plans to come to the show and the banquet). See you there and thanks for your help.

Collin, Thank for the nice note on your car. My 63 is being restored because of my son who had never heard the car run. Let us know what CC decides on the plug. I know my restorers 64 had a plug since new but the color is pretty much faded out. So we are counting on you to make a post on the zerk & plug. With so many cars to judge at this show the judges aren't going to have enough time to cover all the minute details. I heard our class was split into two so that there are 8 of '63's and 8 of '64's so given a time frame of say 9 to 4 or 5:00 the poor judges are gonna be working quite hard. Take off for lunch and that leaves 45 minutes a car maximum. John

John - Didn't know there were that many 63s and 64s left. Thought all had been converted to 67 BBs. Pete

Peter, I owe you an apology. You brought the big bag of orange plugs to Corvette Carlisle and the bag of thin starter bolt washers. John Hinckley stopped also and said hello. How does key man have so many goodies Peter. Nice bag of orange plugs. Thanks for giving me one. Ask MH to post special part for left front fender on DB. I bet everyone would like to see rare part. See you soon, John D.
