Opportunity to purchase a 1973 tt coupe with 10.7K miles. The exterior color is black and the owner tells me only 29 were made by Chevy in this year. Can anyone verify the truth of this matter.

There were 10 available exterior colors in 1973. Black was not one of them, however the Corvette Black book does mention that aproximately 30 cars were painted Black by St. Louis. I believe these may be so coded on the body paint and trim plate riveted to the driver's door hinge pillar with SPEC instead of one of the 10 available paint codes. Lyle? -

Their were 30 black 73's made.
The trim tag should read SPEC paint. Their are other things I know about the 30 black 73's. Send me an E-Mail with the trim tag information and the VIN and I will tell you if it is one of the 30. The two on E-Bay in the last few months were not part of the black 73's just 73's painted black.

Just knowing someone is aware of the number painted by Chevy is confirmation of what the owner has told me about his car. I will get the info from the trim tag in the upcoming week and post. Thanks Lyle, and I'll be in touch.
