    Changing tire on a 1960

I am a little embarassed to ask this one but thought it might be a good idea anyway. After owning my car for 3 years I finally got a flat, fortunately it happened in my garage.

Where is the best place to put the scissor jack to change the left rear tire? I looked at the manual and felt it was not very clear where to put this. I want to make sure not to damage the frame/suspension when I do this.

    thanks,

Scott... Apply the E-Brake and place your...

jack under the rear axle housing a few inches inboard of the shock mounting plate. That should get the job done...

      Scott,

The jack should be on the side of the car, in front of the rear wheel to be changed. Jack should be positioned just in front of the spring perch.

Set the parking brake. Loosen lug nuts before lifting car.

Look under the car and make sure the jack is lifting the chassis, NOT the body.

      Hope this helps.

If in your garage, don't use the sissor jack

The common hydraulic floor jack is much easier to use and you won't strain your milk twist'in on your original jack.
