    1967 427/435 Oil Pan Identification

    Hello,

I need your help on how to identify an original 1967 427/435 oil pan. Can you tell by dimensional information or special characteristics. Also, what is the part number for the original pan? My car has the original engine but the oil pan was replaced in the late 1960's at a local Chevrolet dealership and I don't think it is the correct pan.

    Thanks!

    Rodney-----

All of the 65-74 Corvette big block oil pans are externally near identical. The pan used for 65-68 had a 9/32" hole in the front oil pan seal radius. This was used for the pan-to-timing cover screw used for 1965-66. It was unused for later applications. So, that's about the only discernable difference between the early and later pans. The 1969-only pan may also have had the hole; I'm not sure. I don't think that any of the 70 and later pans had the hole.
