66 hood latch

I need some detailed advice on how to adjust the passenger side hood latch on a 66. When I close the hood the driver side will latch and the other side will not go into the female bracket. This problem just developed afer it working ok so it appears to be some fairly minor adjustment in the cables or springs?

Danny -

Either the sliding plate in the female latch assembly is bound up (needs freeing-up and white lube?) or the entire latch assembly has shifted on the firewall (unlikely, as three bolts secure it). Put a piece of aluminum foil over the latch assembly, lower the hood gently until the hood bolt contacts the foil, and verify that the end of the hood bolt is aligned with the center of the hole in the latch assembly.
