the C1 (1959) paint procedure was to paint the car with the doors open, painting inside the door jams. Was there any paint put on with the doors, hood and trunk lid shut? Thanks, Jimmy

Re: As I under stand it
Jimmy,
When the Corvettes were painted in the spray booth and then pushed into the oven, the paint was still wet and it flowed out so there was no "over spray" like you would see if you were spraying at home. Also I might add, there was a sprayer on each side of the car painting so you processed a car faster as it went by.
I hope this add some light to your guest for information.- Top

See the current (October) issue of "Corvette Enthusiast" magazine for a full photo-illustrated technical article on the St. Louis Paint Shop process; shows the "cut-in" procedure and the exterior spray process too.- Top
