    L-36 intake gaskets

What are the closet to correct intake gaskets fo 69 L-36. I have 3 differant gaskets 353071 and 3860350 both stamped on gasket, and a gasket from an intake set # 3955526 with no # on gasket that is very similar to 3860350.

    Brad------

The GM #3955526 is the exact, correct gasket kit. I believe that the 3860350 side gaskets were supplied as components of the earlier GM #3876197 gasket kit. I would expect that the 3860350 gaskets would be very similar, if not the same as, those supplied with the 3955526 kit. The end seals in the 2 kits may be somewhat different, though.

Joe, are you supposed to be able to see to part # above the intake? The 3955526 doesn't have a # embossed above the heat crossover . The 3860350 does and was a part of 3876197 intake set. What does this set fit? Also last week we talked about a 3 groove 3889372 pulley being correct for my 69 . I found one but it almost looks like black phosphate . Is it possible that it was painted over this . All the other pulleys are painted. What is the correct finish. Thsnk You

        Brad-----

I don't know of any judging requirement that an embossed part number be visible on the gasket. However, judging requirements are a little out of my expertise.

The 3876197 gasket set is applicable to 1965-68 Chevrolet big blocks with oval port heads.

Many Corvette waterpump and crank pullies were originally finished with black phosphate rather than paint. I don't recall seeing a 3889372 finished this way, but it's VERY possible, even likely, that it's an original finish.
