Re: Cleaning vinyl tops
Did some cleaning of my original 64 white soft top today. First tried 303 - took some surface dirt off. Second tried Westley - did not take any more off. Third tried hand cleaner, goop, with tooth brush - do not believe it took any more off.
All methods cleaned the stitching, however the dirt still remains in the hole where stitch comes through.
The areas which are against the frame show black lines and these seem non cleanable. The trim has turned yellow and remains so, have put a small amount of bleach in hopes that will return the white, but not yet.
PS, did find remains of "cleaning" tag under the trim - was never sure if that really existed on all tops, but there is was.- Top

Re: Cleaning vinyl tops
The convertible covering on my 67 was discolored. I tried the following without success: White wall cleaner, lacquor thinner, navel jelly, toilet bowl cleaner, and various types of commercial top cleaner. I purchased some vinyl dye but changed my mind and will replace the covering.- Top
