Well I am finally to a point of setting my body back on and I am unsure of the best way to set up my shims. Does any know the proper way. I have to body mounts and two frame mounts per side. I am working on a 69 Stingray. I bought a shim kit from Ecklers. It has the 20 or 30 small shims and then 4 or 6 of the bigger zinc shims.

The best way to set up the shims is to return the shim count at each mount position to the same as that which existed when you removed the old ones. I hope you made notes of this and/or saved and marked the old shims and mounts as to location. Otherwise, I don't know of a way to get it right. Others may have had to do this and perhaps they will have some information to offer. The factory determined the shim count by using special equipment which no one has access to today.
By the way, when you say "...4 or 6 of the bigger zinc shims.", I think that you are referring to the body mounts, themselves. The 68-72 Corvette body mounts were puck-like, solid aluminum. Prior and subsequent year model Corvettes used rubber/steel cushions.
In what condition did you find the old mounts? In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Body mounts
I think if you look at the archives you will find many threads about this subject. Someone asks this about every week. The fact is, what the factory had on there, is of no real value 40 years and many bumps and bruises later. Just arrange the bolts, pads and shims etc in their proper order and set the body down on the frame. Then look at the positions and determine the fit. If you need a shim to fill a gap or adjust the doors etc. add or subtract shims. When you can bolt the body down and not unduly stress the body and the doors are aligned, you have it. There is no magic formula.- Top

Re: Body mounts
Bryan,
I had to do it on my 79. What i did was use a laser that projects a plane above the frame. Then jack the frame up until the end at the rear was at correct height, then get the holes at the front (engine) at correct height. Measure everything in between and shim to the correct frame dimensions. This should be about right. Since the bodies themselves did not deviate to much from the norm whereas the frames did. Sometimes you need to put extra shims under the nr 7 and 8. Of cours try to check the other points. The 3,4,5 and 6 are difficult to acces.
It worked fine form me this way.
Good luck.
