Re: Setting caster and camber on 1960
The procedure is covered in the ST-12 "Corvette Servicing guide" and also any Chevrolet Passenger car shop manual from the '49-54 era. It consists of adjusting the top of the strut where it connects to the upper a arm via the access gained by removing the grease fitting in the top busingd and rotating the eccentric to gain the best tradeoff between caster and camber.- Top

Re: Setting caster and camber on 1960
In the rear of the upper outside control arm bushing is a grease fitting, remove this fitting and you will accesss an eccentric pivot pin. It is an allen wrench fitting. By turning this pin you can get the correct caster setting, then turn the pivot pin less than 1/2 turn in the direction required for camber. The direction for the camber adjustment depends on the position of the eccentric. Before turning the pivot pin you will need to lossen the clamp on top of the steering knuckle support arm, the 9/16 nut/bolt. Sounds tough but really isn't. Caster setting is 2 deg. +/- 1/2 deg. Camber is 1/2 deg. +/- 1/2 deg.
E-mail me if you want a copy of the service guide page addressing this.- Top
