    '66 backup lights

Over the weekend I replaced both bulbs on the backup lights of my '66 (burned out long ago). However, after doing so I found that the backup lights are on all of the time except when I put the car in reverse. Any suggestions on what to check?

Todd, It sounds like an incorrectly adjusted back-up switch on the transmission. It is possible to incorrectly install the switch to perform opposite as you stated. This is a simple adjustment of trial and error to get right, goes much fasted with a friend to move shifter and check lites as you adjust on the bottom side.

It's mounted on a bracket at the rear of the side sover. a link runs to the switch actuating lever from the reverse shifter arm on the trans just rearward of the switch
