    Help ID please

Can anyone ID this wheel? Year, what it might have come off of, etc. Is it August 27 or is it '58 or '68? Thanks in advance for the help.

      Rob,

Without looking at the whole wheel, this looks like a over the counter replacement for a 65/66 corvette. The 8 stamp in this location is usually the month and the 27 represents the year. I know that's not correct but could it be stamped wrong meaning 72. The K121 is the dating that started after 67, I'm not sure when and I thought it means K = Kelsey 1 = plant 2 = year and 1 = month. The 15 x 5 1/2 JK the the correct stamping for 65/66. Post a picture of the complete wheel and we will know for sure.

        Phil and Timothy,

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I bought the wheel as a spare for my 66. Here is a pic of the wheel and I hope it will help. It would be nice to know what it is exactly (I already know it isn't original to my car). Thanks again for the help.

        Regards,
        Rob

          Rob,

Looks to me like a 65/66 wheel. Is the backside riveted or welded where the rim is attached to the inner spider? Can you post a picture of the backside just to be sure? Years ago, I purchased a set of GM 5 1/2" rims that are riveted in the back, and look to be exactly the same as the original 65/66 wheel (except for the rivets). I always thought these were over the counter service replacements.

            Timothy,

If I remember correctly, it's welded. I can't be certain however, so I'll take a picture and post later today.

              Timothy,

Here is a picture of the back of the wheel. What do you think?

              Thanks again,

                Rob,

From your picture the wheel looks correct to me. It must be a service replacement for 65/66. Is there a GM stamping on the outside raised area by the lug holes? If not, it may be a replacement from Kelsey Hayes and not GM.

                  Timothy,

I don't see a GM stamping anywhere, so it must be a KH. Thanks for all the effort. I just couldn't figure out the stampings at all. They didn't jive with anything that I read in the archives as far as the dates go. No big deal, it'll work.
