Paint Job in the SF Bay Area

    Hello Everyone,

Can anyone suggest a shop/person that does good paint work in the SF Bay Area? I would like to have my '65 painted by someone who knows something about corvettes/fiberglass.

    Thanks

Paint Job in the SF Bay Area

    Gary,

In the South Bay Area, one name that comes up repeatedly is Chris Springer, who works somewhere in the Santa Cruz mountains. I don't have contact information for Chris, but if you call Dave Herlinger at (650) 969-5351, Dave you tell you how to contact Chris.

        Corvette City info?

        Joe,

Is this the place you're talking about?

        Corvette City Body Works
        Cedar Blvd Ste F
        Newark, CA
        (510) 796-4971

Can you give us any background on Howard? How long has he been in the business? Does he tolerate the NCRS mentality in others? (Would he fix some small chips on the hood of my '66 using lacquer at my house???)

        Thanks,

        Gary

          Gary-----

That's the one. Howard has been painting Corvettes for about 35 years. I don't think that there's anyone better in the Bay Area. You might not like the way his shop looks; however, ANYONE will like the work that comes out of it. Howard is VERY busy and he's, basically, a "one man band". That's good and bad. It's hard to get on his schedule but once you do, you know he's the one that's going to paint your car.

I doubt that he would do any work, at all, at your house. I think he's starting to think about retirement and he's spending more-and-more time at some property he has up in the mountains.

One other thing: like many shops, I don't think that Howard will do lacquer work. Certainly, he won't do a complete car that way. I don't know, for sure, if he'll do smaller repair jobs in lacquer, or not.
