I was wondering ifyou can remove the engine and transmission together as a whole unit, or will I have to take them apart. Will I be able to re install them together as it is a lot easier to align the clutch and tranny together outside of the car. I have been able to do this on other GM 60's muscle cars but this is my first vette and it is foriegn territory. I also can only get the car 36 inches off the ground no lift in the garage, any help out there would be greatly appreciated.

Re: c2 convertible engine removal
Paul-----
Yes, you can remove (and, install) the engine and transmission in a Corvette as an assembly. However, most "cherry picker" type engine hoists will have to be used from the SIDE of the car (with a front wheel removed and a jackstand installed for hoist mobility). Most engine hoists of this type do not have enough reach for a Corvette's long nose (especially 68-82 models) if they are used from the front of the car in the traditional manner. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Always use
Hi Paul I never had a prolbem with a cherry picker host lifting the engine out from the front of the car with a small or big block on C1 C2. 84 and up from the side because you dont want to remove the hood on them. Always use a engine load leveler the adjustable type with it you can change the angle of the engine as it comes out and goes back in. Phil 8063- Top
