    70 LT 1 Q's

I believe 1970 LT1's didn't have power steering. Correct? Also believe the 1100884 alt was used. Anyone know of the 1100542 application? Don't think LT1. Little long distance research.

      Dennis-----

Early 1970 LT-1 engiens were equipped with "6 quart" oil pans. None of those could have had power steering. Later 1970 went to the "5 quart" oil pan and I believe that this was done expressly for the purpose of making power steering available.

GM #1100884 was the alternator used for 1970 Corvettes with LT-1, among other applications.

GM #1100542 is a 63 amp alternator used for some 1973 model Chevrolets, but not Corvette.

When in the year would you expect to see a 5 qt LT1 pan?

        Anyone with a 5 qt pan in a 70 LT1? Date?

            Dave,

Puts you about a month later than my 6/16?

I believe that the earlier "6 quart" pan engines had the "CTU" engine suffix code and later "5 quart" pan engines were "CTK".

                Dennis,

Looks like the letter B for close ratio M21.

                  Dennis/Joe,
My #14803 is a "CTK" motor. If my memory serves me right the change over occurred in the #5000 - #6000 range. I believe the 70/72 TIM & JG adresses this.

Re: 70 LT 1 answers are in the TIM&JG as

well as a story some years back (pre-1999) in The Restorer. Unfortunately, I have access to neither here in San Antonio.
