EPA rules limit underground fuel storage

    Chris,

First, I'm no expert! My understanding of underground fuel (except maybe propane) storage tanks of almost any size is that the local/state authority having jurisdiction and EPA require well points at, possibly, four corners to warn of below surface leaks. We experienced this during conversion of old service stations to neighborhood branch banks and when friends suggested putting an underground gas storage tank at their farm. Tain't cheap!

    Thanks Duke

Spoke to my son he said he never uses "boost" either. He has about 10.5:1 in his engine. Where would one get AV gas? The obvious answer would be an airport of course? How do you guys go about obtaining the stuff?? Commercial or private airport? Rumor has it Delta Sonic had(has) "Race" gas, I looked, not in up-state NY.

Dave, The Delta Sonic in Niagara Falls NY, has it or they discontinued it. I haven't been there in a year or so. Try them and see if they still do. Mike

Your best bet to obtain Av gas is a smalll airport not a commercial. Call around and ask if you can bring an apporved container to obtain some 100LL Low Lead avgas for your "Off Road" race car. The reason is that you must pay state taxes if the gas is used on public roads. Some FBOs won't do it but lots will. We do it for anybody that brings the proper container with the admonision that the on road taxes are up to the buyer. If you need any help finding an airport in your area let me know. GL

Any "gas" UL rated can or does it need to be a type 1 or type 2 with the spring loaded lid? Cant find type 1 or 2 in anything larger than 5 gallon cans. I'll get in the phone book and look. It will be easier to drive it to the fill up vs transporting it in cans. Ah the good old days of Sunoco dial-a-octane! Thanks all and GL, Dave

We will fill the standard red plastic jug with the screw on top. Others may not choose to do that. Your best bet is the local small airport and if you don't have one near find one without the glitz of big FBOs or let me know and I will tell you what is in your area. Do be prepared to let them know you are not somebody from the State or Fed gov although I don't think there is any problem with selling AV Gas for other "Off Road" uses. GL
