68-69 BB overspray pics from San Antonio

I thought I would put this out there and see what happens.

As some of you know I have been trying to determine what the correct intake and exhaust manifold overspray should look like on the 68-69 iron head 427s.

Every few months I seem to post this question in hopes that someone will be able to send me some good pics so that I can properly "overspray" my 69. I have had a few replies but it is so difficult to put words into an image in my mind. Also as some of you may have noticed, I am quite critical of my restoration and have an overwhelming urge to do my very best to make it "as it was".

That all being said... Would those of you that are attending the Nationals in San Antonio with a digital camera be able to send me some pics of typical Tonawanda factory overspray from a few 68-69 iron head 427s? I imagine that there will be more than a few excellent examples of Survivors, Top Flights, etc that would be very helpfull to me and my little quest here. Nice detailed close-ups of the overspray on the intake front end and intake gasket area as well as the exhaust manifold overspray will be what I would like to see.

I know it will be busy with all that there is to see and do but if just one person remembers to snap a few pics for me I would be very grateful!

    Thanks,

    Greg #45455

Yes I imagine that there will be more than a few excellent examples in San Antonio....sure wish I could be there!

You are right in that I NEED to get this thing back together and start enjoying it. I often wondered why people would sell a half finished project, but believe me, some days I don't have to wonder!

I have checked the archives and couldn't find any pics and many if not all of the posts on this matter in the past year or so I have been involved in. I'm also not too concerned about a point or two loss on this matter in as much as I would like to get it right.

My whole phylosophy when I started this project was to do my best to make it the way it was. Items like my service replacement carb don't bother me because I can easily replace it when I find a correct one. On the other hand riveting my balljoints after the car was assembled would be next to impossible and totaly impractable so I took the effort and made the tooling to rivet them myself with help from this forum. I look at this overspray issue the same way in that it will be far easier to do it properly the first time rather than try and corect it later.

I could just guess at it but I am not nearly as experienced with these cars as many who contribute to this forum are, nor have I been exposed to them. I have never seen a Survivor or Top Flight car like mine so odds are good that my guess would be wrong.

I've been trying to find you a picture since my post. I know I've seen good examples on this site I'll keep looking.
