Re: It's C60 -- the proof is in your pics

    It's a January '64 car.

Re: What about the trim tag?

Discussion was about the TRIM tag, not the VIN tag... But, your group shot showed both tags and blowing up the trim tag, I read the trim code as:

      490AB

This says it's a convertible body with red vinyl interior and lacks power windows as well as automatic transmission. The 'E23' code on the tag indicates the BODY was built in the 5th month of 1964 production on the 23rd day.

Unfortunately, that's before the trim codes were changed (3/25/64) to provide much more information regarding other vehicle options via ECL codes (in this case the ECL code is 'AB')...

Re: What about the trim tag?

Great photos...and you have a lot of work ahead of you, brings back mega memories...here is my detective work........I believe the GM firewall was the same, but was modified for AC at St Louis....If you look at original AC firewall plenum openings they look as if they were cut by hand. Original ac dashes however look as if they were molded with the ac knobs and center vent cutouts....not hand done....the C60 on a 64 has many tell tale signs that I see on your car...your hood opening pull handle is the tall bracket (clears the AC vent) version, your alternator is on the driver side, compressor was on the other side, your dash has the ac pulls. I see the ac dryer on the firewall. Do you have a battery tray and wheel housing opening on the driver side frame mount...I see the mounting bolts , also I see the rear front inner wheel opening for battery access? Looks like you have a 7 blade fan. you defintetely have a firewall cut for AC, Also it appears your car was white with a red interior, ac convertible two tops with a L75 engine option. Great optioned 64!
