I'm ready to assemble my freshly painted 58. My plan was to apply the weatherstrip after all the doors, hood, trunk, etc. were installed, so as to insure perfect preassembly fit . Is this the way to go, or should I apply the weatherstrip first. How was it done at the factory? Thanks.

Re: C1 weatherstrip
Glenn, That's the way I'm doing it (this time). Without the weatherstripping on the doors they certainly easier to adjust. I have not put the w/s on as yet. Larry Richter at the last SACC National said adjust the door to the body before you put the w/s on. So I tried it. I don't know how the factory did it. Regards,- Top

When the car was built, the closure panels (doors, hood, deck lid, top compartment lid) were installed and fitted on the raw body prior to paint (as they are on modern cars); weatherstrips were installed later in Final Assembly after paint, as they are today.
