    Vette Brakes products

I was wondering of anyone could give me some feedback on Vette Brakes suspension products. I have just purchased a 1980 vet and the owner had replaced the front and rear suspensions with complete units from VB. It now has a transverse fiberglass leaf spring front and a fiberglass spring rear, with tubular upper lower arms, boxed trailing arms and the like. He is including all the original parts as well. I have to get the motor running, so I have not driven it yet, and I would like to know if anyone has experience with these products and how well they work on the street. Please let me know if you have any advice.

    Thank You, Eric

    Eric,

When I purchased my Corvette the previous owner had also replaced the upper and lower control arms with the Vette Product control arms and the transvers leaf spring. The rear spring had also been changed to a fiberglass one. My car handles very well on the street but it does not like bumpy or uneven roads. On a smoother road the car drives like a go-cart. A lot of the Vette Product front suspension systems are ajustable. You can usually adjust the ride height and the spring rate. The only negative that I have noticed is frequent squeaks. The squeaks are either coming from the fiberglass spring or the polyurethane bushings. If anyone knows how to stop this sqeaking, please let me know.

Thanks Rodney for taking the time to give me your opinion. Hopefully, the car will be running soon and I can check it out. I am in PA, and our roads are notorious for thier poor condition.

      Thanks again,

      Eric

        Hello Eric:

I live in the area where VB does their work, have used their products for years. their work is exemplary, their guarantee without equal in the industry, ( control valve =5 yrs. for example ) they use excellent material and their prices are competitive.

While I haven't used all of the VB pieces that you have, I do essentially have their street/slalom suspension setup, and I love it. Their stuff has always been high quality, fits well, and does what they claim that it does. I've always found them to be a pleasure do deal with and to be quite knowledgeable about their products and their application. When I had to return a part, there was no problems. These guys are my favorite vendor for aftermarket Corvette parts - I recommend them to anyone who wants to tweak their Corvette suspension.

I doubt that your squeaks are coming from the fiberglass spring. More than likely, the polyurethane bushings are the source of the squeaks. When poly bushings first came out, they usually had a tendency to squeak quite a bit, but they've started to impregnate them with graphite (I believe) and they generally don't make much noise IF THEY ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. If the previous owner did not follow the installation instructions properly, I'm not sure how to fix your problem, other than re-doing it. I'm not sure an occasional squeak is worth that much trouble.
