I replaced the turn signal switch a year or so ago due to the usual electrical problems, and since the cancel cam looked pretty worn, I also replaced it with a repo from Corvette Central. Worked fine for several months. Lately, I have had a problem in that the left hand signal would not stay on. The lever simply moved back to the neutral position. After taking it apart several hundred times, I have discovered that the roller on the bottom actually rolls. This is the one that the left cam rides on. The other one (which works fine) does not turn. Am I correct in my assumption that the free turning steel bushing is the problem? If so, what's the best way to correct it?

Re: C1 dir signal cancel cam
I don't know if it is not supposed to move or not. But to get it to stay, you might try some Loctite threadlock. Use the high strength stuff #271? I have used it before to tighten loose swivel points on mirrors. It is thin enough to flow back behind the roller.- Top

Problem fixed
Being the patient, meticulous craftsman that I am, I used a punch and a medium size hammer to bend the outer side of the retaining washer down just enough that it sort of "staked" the roller. It will not turn freely now, and the turn signal works just as advertised. I'm pretty sure that the "rollers" are not supposed to roll. They are there because there needs to be a harder surface for the cancel cam to ride on. If it were the same material as the housing, it would wear out in short order. If it comes loose again, I will take it completely apart and try some loctight.- Top
