65 seat cover lower

Hello,

How can I repair a lower seat cover seam that is seperated? I'd prefer not to replace the seat cover if possible as it's from a Bowtie car.

Simply pull the seat cover from the seat bun and take it EITHER to an automotive trim shop in your area OR a conventional cobbler. Both have industrial grade sewing machines and they can cut a strip of reinforcing material (vinyl, fresh thin leather) and restitch the seam with the reinforcing strip on the back side where it won't be visible one the cover is installed.

In my opinion, too many restorers toss out perfectly reuseable, factory original, seat covers and carpet simply because there's a minor tear, hole, or fabric fade that could be repaired by re-stitching, professional vinyl patch, or a re-dye...

Chris,

I'd contact John Kennedy in Utah and explain to him your dilemma. He may be able to make the repair for you. He does not have Email, but someone on here may have his telephone number. I met him at the NCRS National Meet in Park City last summer; he's a very personable man and will take the time to listen to your questions. He has several low mileage, original C2 cars also.
