    Re: C2 horn switch grounding

    Jerry,

When we were first looking at it a few months ago, we did clean the contacts in the steering wheel. I will start with the rag joint (steering coupler) because I would like to remove the ugly jumper wire around it. But that is a good thought to revisit the horn contacts if the rag joint repair does not help.

I bought a steering coupler web repair kit (part number ST32C) from Volunteer Vette, is that a good choice? My car is not perfectly original at this point, though I would like to start heading in that direction.

The other place to check Joe,

if the rag joint doesn't solve it, is your signal switch connector. The semi-circular connector inside, at the base of the steering column. The horn relay ground is the black wire on the end, next the empty connector on the end. If you ground that position the horn should blow.

That's the place where they would connect add on alarm systems which use the car horn as the alarm.
