What is the best method for installing the chrome tips on the 1961 headlight bezels. thanks,Gary

the GM tips come with a pair of studs as part of the casting. the studs need to be peened over to fasten tip to the headlite bezel. i took a chainsaw to a piece of white oak (4" x 4" x 10") and cut a groove ( approximating the configuration of the tip) in the oak. then placed the oak in the vice and peened the soft studs over with a ball peen hammer, using the oak as the dolly. good luck, mike -

Mike is correct...However a little JB bond in the front helps a lot. be sure to fit the rear were it joins the fender chrome strip. some are raised and with a little care the rear can be lowered to fit.Comment
