mid year exhaust tips

I have heard that the assembly line cars had tips with no numbers. I would like a little info on them. Did they have a seam? I have a pair in old white box's with a blue paper tag glued on the box with the part number. These tips have no numbers. The ends where the clamp fits, those 2 slots are in the same location as some old used ones I have. There is no seam like the used ones I have. Thanks for any help. john

Yes, on original Tips, seam was on the bottom, with no part numbers. Also, the thickness of the SS was less than some reproductions.
