L88 Pistons Where to get the best deal!!!

    Hello to all
Engine is now at the machine shop. Since the engine sat so long in the garage some condensation got to it. Cam was toast but I have an NOS one. 7115 crank is fine but the block has to be bored 30 over. What I need is TRW full floating pistons part number L2239NF 030 12:5 to 1 I want to retain the original snarly sound of the engine. Summit sells them for 57.95 each. The engine builder says it a heavy piston but what choice do I have unless its custom build light weight stuff but then again its opening up pandora's box. I kind of want it simple. Anybody got a lead on a better price?? Oh yea I'm not worried about fuel as I can get a few barrels of racing cocktail from a buddy of mine. Also the car would only be used on grocery run or to a show and shine. I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance to all that can help. Grant

You can also try KB and JE

Overall, not a bad price for a low volume piston. I have used Summitt and Jegs for most of my pistons. If price and weight are concerns, you can consider the JE SRP series of pistons - they are the current supplier for the 502 pistons so the quality is there, or KB Silvolite. The JE pistons run about $500 to $600 a set, the KB hypereutectics are about $300 if I remember correctly.

    Good luck,
    Mark

GM bought JE the computer controled

machine to make the 502 pistons for marine use. the machine allows JE to make forged pistons with close piston to wall clearance because of the shape it can generate

i have used JE forged pistons

that were installed in race engines at .0015 piston to wall. when i opened the spec sheet for these pistons i called JE because i though they had made a mistake. the above machine allowed them to make forged pistons with these type of piston to wall.

          Hi Grant,
I used JE when I had my motor rebuilt.
