    1963 Hood Weather Strip

I have read the archives on this subject and other publications including the 63-64 JG and I am a little confused. The use of 2 to 4 shaker wedges to prevent hood movement was used on early cars and deleted on the later production run. I have read that allowing the weather strip to wrap the edges of the hood prevented this from happening and was how GM solved this problem. I am ready to install the weather strip on a July 1963 SWC and want to insure I cut it correctly. What is the correct method?

    Thanks for any help!

Have a Mar 64 car, no wedges and weather stripping does not wrap corner. The TIM/JM, 3rd ed, page 132 also says NO and notes later cars do wrap.

The aft hood wedges on the '63 hood are about 6-8 inches forward of the male latch pin. The '65-'67 hood seals are trimmed even with the latch pin on the side. The '63-'64 hood seals are trimmed to the center of the latch pin on the aft side of the hood only.

67 hood weatherstrips are cut after they round the corners and are held in place with adhesive and a plastic mushroom rivet on each side.mike

Yeah, the attachment is different on the ends for '67 but the trim length is the same for '65-'67 far as I know.

Mike, I think you will find that the rivet is actually the metal cap ones.
