    62 Corvette Birthdate

I just purchased a 62 at Bloomington and am researching build codes. From what I can tell, the birthdate on this vehicle is March 28, 1962 (108926). Could someone please confirm this. As usual, many parts are needed to bring this one up to speed and want to be sure I am purchasing the correct ones.

    Thanks much.

    Re: 62 Corvette Birthdate

Your birthday looks good. 69.5 cars per day......make 20th production day, or Wednesday March 28, 1962. Now that assumes no work on weekends.

Generally, major engine assenbly dates should be two weeks prior. So engine stamp should be F0312 thru F0316. Cast date about a week prior. Trans, rear end, intake water pump etc.,will have a February or very early March date. The judging manual says up to six months, but I think the above dates are more accurate for original cars that I have observed over the last 40 years.

      Deb -

3/28 matches what the "Birthday Book" says.

        Jim:

Thanks so much for all the info. It is very much appreciated. We have a long haul ahead of us, but the one good thing is the engine appears to be matching and the car was at one time equipped with a power top. Onto the parts market, again. HA!

        Thanks again.

              Jim:

Oh boy, the list keeps on growing....! Our finances are a bit low right now, but I do appreciate the offer. So far we need the generator, the carb, the radiator, the air breather, and the master cylinder. Get my drift...ha! But, I do have the original engine, intake and thermostat housing. Oh, and did I mention, I would love to get the power top unit, but I'm afraid this will be more expensive than the entire car. I saw Mary Jo wants $250 just for the safety switch. Feel free to send me a parts list with prices if you like (dadamato@netzero.com). I know we are not supposed to do business on this site, but it's all about bringing these creatures back to original condition, right John? HA!

              Take care.
