I have a 1964 Corvette Convertible. The Trim code is 491 BE. The color is Silver. I believe it should be leather. Is this correct. The Carpet is Dark Blue. Is this also Correct. How can I find out?

Sam ---- From the Corvette Black Book, the code reads "491BA/BE/M/N=Si+B/V. IMHO, looks like Silver Vinyl with Blue carpeting. Hope someone else either confirms or corrects this feedback. '64 is not my balywick, just trying to help.

1964 interior trim codes: 491 is two-tone interior, vinyl [single color is 490]. If leather, would be 898 single color; 899 two tone.

BE suffix (491 vinyl or 899 leather) is for Silver seats, door trim, Blue dash, console, Gray rugs -- Manual transmission, no power windows.

All this is well described (1964 is a complicated year for trim tags) in "Authentication Library -- Vol 1" by Al Grenning / Roy Sinor; available from NCRS library.

Sam,

I agree with Kent and Wayne. Noland's book states that your code equals silver and blue vinyl for a convertible with an exterior paint of 916, 936, or 940. Hope that helps.
