I am trying to restore the storage box (called "cover" by GM) in my 69. Several years ago there was an article in the Restorer on re-flocking. The author mentioned Flocking or Suede paint but was not specific about a brand or type or anything. Krylon makes a suede paint which would be perfect except they don't make it in black. I called Krylon to see if it could be painted over in black and their tech people were not sure. Even if I could paint over it I don't know if the flocking effect would be lost by a layer of flat blak paint. Has anyone got a suggestion? Any experience with this product? Is there something out there that I don't know about? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Jeff

Re: Rear storage compartment restoration
The flocking process is quite involved. There are no products that I know that will look any better that just painting flat black. Look in your past Drivelines and you will find a member named John Wallack(sp) He does the re-flocking on removable gloveboxes and rear storage compartments. If your compartment is an original, its worth it. I had an old ,busted up original in my 71, and he made it like new!

Re: Rear storage compartment restoration
It's John Waluk. Does beautiful work. He's from New York...belongs to Metro LI Chapter. He advertises in the Driveline. Also check some of the Metro LI event listings...I believe he is an officer and is listed as a contact for several of their events. I don't exactly remember the cost but I thought it was reasonable to restore, to like new condition, an original 68/69 "shallow" box. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight
