    65 #1 Body Mount Hardware

    Hi guys,

I'm confused about the correct set up for the #1 body mount hardware on my 65 convertible. The AIM shows different configurations for coupes and convertibles. The section for the convertible shows the large spacer on top of the square shims. My disassembly notes have the square shims on top of the large spacer and the large spacer resting directly on the body mount bracket, which is how the AIM shows the coupe configuration. Which is correct for the convertible?

Also, my notes indicate a large and small washer in addition to the lock washer under the body mount bracket. The AIM only shows a washer and lock washer. What is the correct configuration and washer sizes?

    Thanks!

I found a pic prior to disassembly that shows the square shims on top of the spacer. This contradicts the info in the AIM for the convertible. I am inclined to put it back as it was originally, but how will this judge?

Also, I have two large washers that I tagged as coming from the #1 body mount. They are both over 1 3/4" in diameter and one is thicker than the other. They have a much larger diameter than the ones supplied in my replacement kit from paragon. Where do these go?

    Thanks!

Don ---- If you can ascertain that it was never previously disassembled, I would put it back the way it was. Be prepared with photos to show judges should it ever become an issue on the field. If this is the way is was assembled, provide an article to the Restorer or start requesting data from others who were first to remove body mount hardware and log it for an article.

Thanks Kent. I did put it back with the shims on top of the spacer. This should be an easy thing to check as the shims should be visible without disassembly, just like in my pic. Can anyone else weigh in with how their shims position on the #1 body mount for a convertible?
