67 NOTCHED VALVE COVER

Ok, I thought notched valve covers went out with 1966. I bought a 67 BB air coupe last October from the second owner who owned it since 1970. The RH valve cover has the air cond bracket notch in it. Car was made late April 1967. The motor is original and the second owner said he did not change it. The first owner was a medical doctor and did nothing to the car. Car is a real 34,000 mile car also. Any comments?

Gary, My father has a 1967 coupe 427/390 with a/c. The car was recently body on restored and the valve cover with the notch came up. Prior to restoration the car was pretty rough cosmetically but most of the major components were there(I don't think the engine was ever out of the car).Also,all the major parts were in the same condition,leading me to believe the covers had not been changed. Some very knowledgable people were contacted and their opinion was that that particular combination of options could be the exception to the rule. The car is a late Nov.1966 build.
