Re: us royal tires
Back in the fifties passenger car tires were typically four-ply, which meant four layers of fabric that crossed at about a 35 degree angle. Light truck tires often had six layers of fabric to carry heavier loads. In the sixties things got complicated. Many passenger car tires were labeled "four-ply rating". They were actually two-ply tires, but could carry the load of the old four-ply tires. Fortunately, radials have spared us from such hokis pokis. Radials are placarded with the actual number, type, and material composition of the carcass.
