In looking at cars recently after a period of inactivity, I've noticed a lot of parts (soft tops, radiators, alternators, carbs, etc.) which bear date codes that would be correct for the car in question.
However, either their condition is too good or something about the appearance (stamp font, spacing, material itself, whatever) appears incorrect.
Is it now the case that virtually any part can be obtained to fit a car of a specific build date by having one custom made and dated?
If that's so, how are such parts viewed during judging?
I'm not raising ethical questions, just trying to gain a perspective.
I realize that although this thread has technical elements, it is not a technical issue in the customary sense, so if it needs to be pulled, I understand. I just don't know of a better source on the subject, and I've checked the archives.
