Does anyone have insight on how to install an external electric fuel pump? I need to get the fuel supply from the bottom of the tank I think since the electric pumps are push type versus the syphon type.

Re: Installing electric fuel pump on C3
What year car, and what are you trying to accomplish? The main fuel line to the mechanical pump is below the level of the tank so an electric pump can be spliced in to the line at any point where it runs along the frame. The question is why?Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Installing electric fuel pump on C3
FYI, spend the $ and get a gerotor vs the traditional vane style pump, if you must go the electric route. Vane style very loud and annoying. My 68 has a vane style installed by previous bubba, hate it. They put it on the rear cross member(no spare tire or carrier came with the car!). I can hear it over the cam-lope and headers! I'm most likely going to change back to the mechanical pump. 9 out of 10 times you dont need an electric pump. I think it was put there because bubba thought it was cool. I have aprox. 375-400hp,11:1, 327 with e-brock 1411 carb and e-brock high rise, headers etc... and I think the stock pump will do fine in my case. Electrics are needed when there isnt a boss to mount a mechanical or the flow isnt sufficient to keep up with your set-up, say a BB with an 1150 holly dual feed double pumper that red-lines at 9000rpms. So, I dont know exactly what your needs are but test your set-up with a fuel psi gauge plumed in so you can see it while doing at full throttle WOT blast. Psi to low then yes time for electric or larger vol mechanical pump. A lot of guys do this to put a bandaid on another problem. Just my 2c of ramble.- Top
