Any pros/cons about whether to install carpet or dash pads first?

I've never done dash pads, but I have done carpet in my '66. My recommendation would be to remove everything and then start installing from top to bottom, meaning start with the dash pad and then finish with carpet.

I think I would do the carpet first, especially if the dash is completely removed from the car. There is more room to play with the carpet under the dash and around the fire wall. You may end up replacing the fire wall insulation. You need the dash out for that. By the way if you decide to replace the dash pads while the frame is in the car it is more difficult to install the holding clips.
