Dick, do you have an opinion on what is/isn't flash chromed on the trim. I will be working on the windshield trim mainly. It is all in good shape but a little dull. I have all new nos t-top trim except one piece is slightly smashed together (it is the one that runs along the front edge of the t-top. I need to carefully work it apart and if needed buff it out. My trim rings could use a buffing. They seem to be just plain stainless.

Yup, I don't want to walk into the house with a trim piece sticking out of my head. Wife might make me get rid of the car. But then again I might be able to stick a few more parts on me and then try to have myself NCRS judged just for the fun of it. Might even do better than my 68 corvette. If I hold real still, no one will know it is me under all the parts.

If you do the buffing, it's not a big expense. I typically spend around $20 a part for the service. Rick at Areba Services will look your parts over good and will let you know if they need more work before he will chrome them. I once had to rebuff some windshield stainless because there was some micro pitting remaining. The parts were from a car in the North East (acid rain region)

Do you have any before and after pictures? Can micro pitting be seen very easily? Terry

No pics, but the pits can be seen by close inspection. They tend to look like tiny fly specs in the polished surface.

Ok.....I don't think I have that problem because my trim is either NOS or from Arizona. I think if the couple of pieces that I have that are sand scratched won't clean up, I will try to find good used. Thanks for your input, Terry

Heres a pic to illustrate the added brillance of flash chrome. This is most evident on an overcast day.
