1967 engine clip colors?

On my 1967 390hp motor, should the clips for the PCV hose and the clip that holds the vacuum hose be engine color or Black?

also, the French Locks on the Exh. Manifolds, should those have overspray on them?

I believe exhaust manifolds on '67 BB engines were installed after engine painting, therefore, your french locks should have no overspray. However, SB engines in 1967 had exhaust manifolds installed prior to painting and they received paint with the engines. Someone else will have to add to this thread to answer your other questions and, perhaps, ammend and/or modify what I stated above. Why not look in your copy of the Judging Guide for these answers?

You have the procedure correct but I believe you have the engines backwards. By 67, the 327 no longer had painted exhaust manifolds but the big blocks did. The BB manifolds had almost enough paint on them to paint an entire small block engine assy. Included in this paint operation would have been the lock straps and bolts at the ends of the manifolds.

I don't remember for absolute sure on the PCV bracket color but I believe the manifold bracket was installed prior to engine paint. I THINK it was part of the engine assy as shipped from Tonawanda. The other bracket mounted to one carburetor stud, if so equipped, would not have been painted orange.

Exh. Manifolds on the 67 BB definately got overspray.
