    C-1; 60-62 Air Cleaner

Quick qustion... Were original single quad air cleaners aluminum or chrome? Someone gave me a 60-62 set up and says that the aluminum is original and not a reproduction. I had a chrome one once and I thought that it was original. Which one is right? The Aluminum looks like crap and I'm too lazy to buff it all the time. I want the old chrome one back...

Chrome was GTO and GM service replacement for years--all 58-62 were originally aluminum.

Re: Second question on air cleaners...

Alright, thanks guys. I guess I'll have to go with the ugly aluminum and pay the neighbor kid $10 a week to keep it polished for me. The one I have now is a repop I think from what I was told. When I find an original to buy, what is an easy way to tell that it's the real thing? Thanks

Ive been trying to buy a 60-62 repop for my '58 for about a year now, and every supplier has told me they are on "national backorder." Yikes. Keen Parts had one in the box at Carlisle last year with a nice big dent in the middle. If you find something, let me know. PS, I'd love a chrome one. Is the GTO the same otherwise? Same height?
