C2 Ignition Shield any new expert writings

Another odd ball problem on my March 64. According to John Amgwert article in the Restorer titled "63-67 Sting Ray Small Block Ignition" there was a change order:

ECR62499 effective on 2-19-64 just before my FI was built on 3-23-64.
Said ECR changed the top shield to pn 3864671 and added a new front clip, 3864672 (the rare ? shaped one) also.

YES, that's what I have - owned car since 8/67. Now the dates seem to work (I think, that is if the ECR got to manufactures floor on effective date).

The TIM/GJ wants the earlier verison 3848306 and to make life even worst N. Adams book states the 3864671 was not available until 65.

Have there been any follow up information on the shields? Know a person who has a pile of C2 shields and made the comment that he has more versions then documented in various articles.

    Thanks in advance. Alan

    Alan -

Without the NPC (Notice of Production Change) that implemented/documented the change on the plant floor, there's no way to determine the actual effective point in production (other than a good survey of known-original cars). ECR's were frequently written several months in advance of the effective point.

      Thanks John,
I'll try to find an earlier top shield and just avoid the problem.
Still trying to find the owner I purchased the 64 from in Aug 67 to find out what he remembers replacing, so far the water pump and fuel pump were replaced. The fuel is correct code, but wrong bottom - not round. Sent pictures to somebody on the Board of wrong bottom (flat config) hope he reads this and emails.
