    Source for brake parts

Where can I buy caliper rebuild kits for a 65 Corvette? None of my local parts sources carry them. They all want to sell rebuilt calipers but no kits. The calipers I'm doing were sleeved some years ago and the car sits most of the time. It appears one or more are sucking air so a rebuild is in order. Thanks Rich

    Rich,

My recommendation is to purchase the rebuild kits with new O-ring pistons from Vette Brakes. The o-rings are a better design, and really are not all that expensive to do all 4 calipers.

      Thanks Patrick,
I just bought the kits about ten minutes ago from Muskegon Brake. They are not the O ring type but will get me going. Rich

You need to inspect the pistons carefully, too. The pistons are anodized. Carefully inspect the sealing ring which is the part of the piston which forms its greatest diameter. Note if any of the anodize is worn away on this surface. If it is, the piston should not be re-used. If you would rather not invest in a set of new pistons at this time, you can go ahead and use pistons which show the described wear. However, the longevity of the brake job and the interval to when the calipers start leaking again may be a lot shorter than the last time (when the calipers had new pistons).
