1955 Heat Riser Valve

Can anyone tell me the correct GM part number for the heat riser valve located immediately below the right exhaust manifold on a 1955 Chevy 265 c.i. engine? I'm in need of one, and I've seen a couple of different numbered parts that purport to be correct. Thanks very much.

If it dont look like this , it's wrong no matter what part number people use. They repro it but it's not cast (numbers)in to the part

The part number on the counterweight is the part number for the counterweight and not the part number for the complete assembly. This is how it is with all GM heat riser valves that have part numbers on the counterweights.

This number usually does identify a "correct" valve. However, it's possible that the same counterwight was used for other valves which are not "correct" (or, even functional, for a Corvette.

The original PRODUCTION valve assembly and the only part ever available in SERVICE for 1955 Corvettes with V-8 was GM #3725981. Unfortunately, it was discontinued in March, 1981.

You might try the shoebox-Chevy parts houses (Danchuk, Classic Chevy, etc.); they just might have the old 2-hole heat riser.

Last resort most any repro passes the JM, and they do repro them.
