Light undercoat at back and top...then black..

No.

They are black, but not flat. They are the same eggshell sheen as you'd see in the engine compartment, as it's the same paint. They do appear flatter with age, but did not start out truly flat.

Some like Krylon 1613, semiflat. I like Eastwood's underhood black paint. John Deere Blitz Black has fallen out of favor since the formula changed.
