1957 steering column

Has anyone ever installed the steering column on the car AFTER mounting the body??

I just mounted the body.......the engine, exhaust manifolds, are all on the car radiator.

Mike--your last sentence is unclear. Radiator in or out?
What you have is going to be really difficult.
I have a friend who heats up the steering box itself warm enough to get the tube to come out of the box itself. He then redoes the seals, etc., then installs it without the tube, and then taps the tube back into the steering box. That's the only way I know that you'll be able to do what you want--and you'll still have to take the radiator out to do that--possibly also the left exhaust manifold.

Thank you Mike for your quick response...........I rather take OFF the body again than go through the trouble your friend goes through.

YES....the radiator is mounted as is the exhaust manifold. I originally intended to take the body off again to get it painted BUT after installing the body, I now changed my mind and will paint it while on the frame.

I was informed, from someone who has done it several times, that it CAN BE DONE by removing the radiator, pitman arm (which I have removed already), and the exhaust manifold.

Mike, it CAN BE DONE by removing the radiator with shroud,generator with exhaust manifold, pitman arm )can't recall) I may be forgetting several other in the way items. Good Luck, Regards
